Nigeria is on the Home Office list of nationalities that need a visa to visit the UK. The list was read on 31 October 2026. If you also hold another passport, check that passport on GOV.UK before you pay. The fee below is the application fee for visits. It is not a Skilled Worker fee and it is not an NHS charge.

If the visa is shorter than you asked for, or refused

GOV.UK says you will not get the fee back if you are given a shorter visa than you asked for, or if the application is refused. You also will not get it back if you have the right of abode and should have applied for a certificate of entitlement instead. An application can be made up to 3 months before you travel. The published processing time for a Standard Visitor visa made outside the UK is 3 weeks, and it starts only after you have verified your identity and submitted documents, or after your biometrics appointment. It can take longer. Do not book the non-refundable ticket first.

A successful visitor application is issued as an eVisa, a digital record, not as a sticker you should expect to see in the passport. GOV.UK explains how to link it to a UKVI account.

Questions people ask

How much is a UK visa from Nigeria?
The Home Office fee for a Standard Visitor visa of up to 6 months is £135 on the table in force from 8 October 2026. A 2-year long-term visit visa is £506, 5 years is £903 and 10 years is £1,128. Each person pays their own fee. The visa application centre can add its own service charge on top.
Is the UK visa fee the same in naira every week?
No. UKVI charges pounds. Any naira figure on this page uses the exchange rate dated 30 October 2026 from the fawazahmed0 currency-api dataset and is only an illustration. Your bank's rate will differ.
Does a 2-year visa let me stay for 2 years?
No. GOV.UK says a long-term Standard Visitor visa lets you stay for up to 6 months on each visit. If you are under 18 when you apply, the long-term visa is only valid for up to 6 months after you turn 18, and the fee is not refunded for that.
Should I buy the Lagos to London flight before the visa?
GOV.UK says you should not book travel until you have a decision, and you must not travel before the application is approved. Read the Lagos to London flight price guide when you are ready to search, not before the decision.
