You apply online through the IRCC portal and pay with a credit or debit card. IRCC says the fee is the same whether the visa they issue is single-entry or multiple-entry. They choose which one to issue. A family of five or more can pay a single CAD 500 visa fee only if they apply at the same time and place and the children qualify as dependants.

Illustrative naira figure using 1 CAD = 963.83 NGN from the fawazahmed0 currency-api dataset dated 30 October 2026. It is not a Central Bank of Nigeria rate. IRCC charges the fee in Canadian dollars. On that rate, CAD 100 is about ₦96,383 and CAD 85 is about ₦81,926.
Biometrics
Unless you are exempt, IRCC collects fingerprints and a photo. The exemptions published on the biometrics page include children under 14 and applicants over 79 (asylum claimants do not get the upper age exemption). If this is your first application, IRCC says to pay the biometrics fee when you submit, or the file can stall. A visitor visa cannot be issued for longer than your biometrics remain valid, and giving biometrics again does not automatically extend a visa to 10 years. The visa is limited by the passport expiry, the biometrics expiry, or a shorter date an officer sets.
Where to go in Nigeria
After you apply, IRCC sends a biometrics instruction letter if they need them. VFS Global's Canada pages for Nigeria, read on 31 October 2026, list:
- Lagos: Canada Visa Application Centre, Ground Floor, The Manor, Plot 110, Admiral Ayinla Way, Lekki Phase 1. Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.
- Abuja: Sterling Bank Plaza, 3rd Floor, Plot 1083, Mohammadu Buhari Way, Central Business District. Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.
VFS says an appointment is required for biometric enrolment and that you should arrive 15 minutes early. Confirm the address on your letter before you travel across town. Do not pay an agent who claims they can submit the IRCC form for a private fee that IRCC does not list.
What this page will not guess
Processing time is not printed here. IRCC says it varies and excludes biometrics. Bank statements, invitation letters and ties to Nigeria are case-specific. Nothing on this site is an immigration assessment.
