UK visa for Nigeria
A UK visit visa from Nigeria is an online application, a fee in pounds, and biometrics at the centre UKVI assigns. The British High Commission in Abuja is not the place you walk in to submit that form.
Nigeria is on the Home Office list of visitor visa nationals. Read on 31 October 2026, that list includes Nigeria by name. You apply online. The earliest you can apply is 3 months before travel. GOV.UK says you should not book travel until there is a decision, and you must not travel before the visa is approved.
What you will need in the form
GOV.UK asks for travel dates, where you will stay, what you think the trip will cost, your home address and how long you have lived there, your parents' names and dates of birth if you know them, your income if you have any, and any criminal, civil or immigration offences. Your passport must be valid for the whole stay. Depending on your case you may also be asked for 10 years of travel history. This site cannot tell you whether your papers are enough. That is the caseworker's job.
The fee, briefly
The 6-month Standard Visitor fee is £135 on the Home Office table in force from 8 October 2026. The full table, including 2-year, 5-year and 10-year visit visas, is on the UK visa cost in Nigeria page. Each person pays. A long-term visa still limits each visit to 6 months.
UK embassy in Nigeria
The British High Commission Abuja is at Plot 1137, Diplomatic Drive, Central Business District, Abuja. GOV.UK says public access is by appointment only, and gives the phone numbers +234 (0)20 12770780, 0781 and 0782 for that office. It handles UK government business and help for British nationals. It is not a counter where you submit a Standard Visitor application or collect a decision by walking in.
You book a visa application centre only after you have applied on GOV.UK. The centre address is the one in your appointment, not an address forwarded on WhatsApp. In November 2024 VFS Global announced that it had opened UK visa application centres in Abuja (Mezzanine Floor, Tower C, Churchgate Plaza, Plot 473, Constitution Avenue, CBD), Ikeja (2nd Floor, Ile Oja Opebi Mall, Opebi Link Road) and Victoria Island (2nd Floor, Churchgate Plaza Tower 2, PC 31 Churchgate Street). Treat those as the addresses from that announcement. If your appointment letter names a different building, follow the letter. GOV.UK's own centre finder is the list that stays current: you pick Nigeria after you start the application.
Older TLS pages still appear in search results. Do not pay a third party for a "slot". GOV.UK says the centre is chosen through the official application.
After you apply
The published time for a Standard Visitor decision made outside the UK is 3 weeks, counted on UK working days, starting when identity is verified or biometrics are given. It can take longer if documents need checking. You get an email when there is a decision. A grant is an eVisa. You create a UKVI account and link it. You do not need a sticker in the passport to prove the grant, and you should not travel before the grant.

When the visa is granted, search the flight as a separate purchase. Heathrow and Gatwick are not the same airport. The route note is the flights from Lagos, Nigeria to London guide.
